The district is divided into two police sub-divisions, each being headed by a SDPO in the rank of DSP/ASP. The two subdivisions are Malkangiri and Chitrakonda. There are 06 PSs under Malkangiri sub-division and 05 PSs under Chitrakonda sub-division.
