The Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Division was created on 1st May 2006 vide R.D. Notification No.5025 Dt. 15.04.2006 to deal with Rural Water Supply and Sanitation sectors in the Malkangiri district. Earlier there were two RWSS Sub-Divisions namely Malkangiri & Mathili which was under control of RWSS Division, Nabarangapur. The Geographical area of RWS&S Division, Malkangiri is spread over entire Malkangiri district (excluding Malkangiri & Balimela NAC areas) comprising 07 Blocks and covering 108 Gram Panchayats.
